BASSIST AND VOCALIST

After a few years of classical piano as a child, Peter discovered the bass guitar at age 15 and began learning bass lines from vinyl records. He took some private lessons, started jamming with friends from school, and soon after formed his first band Advance Green, playing his first club show at age 17. Despite the occasional lesson, and some vocal training in the 90s with Pattie Kelly, Peter was mostly self-taught. Decades of live performance and studio work with a wide variety of artists and musical styles made him a seasoned professional.

LIVE PERFORMER

ORIGINAL BANDS

In the 90s, Peter was the bassist, co-writer and backup vocalist for surrender dorothy, a rock band signed internationally to MCA/Universal Records and BMG Publishing. They toured Europe seven times, released one album (serum, 1996) and made four music videos and a tour documentary for MuchMusic. From 2008-2018, Peter was bassist and backup vocalist for the progressive rock group Druckfarben, which released two albums and a live DVD. His first original band was Advance Green (late 80s) and he was also in Enjoy, and an experimental improv band called Retainer.

SIDEMAN

Peter has backed up countless artists, touring internationally with celebrated Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith (Blue Boy tours in Europe and Japan, 2001-02), Damhnait Doyle (Hyperdramatic tour in Canada, 2000), and singer-pianist Laila Biali (House of Many Rooms tour in Canada, 2015). He's played gigs with Honeymoon Suite, Sass Jordan, Sisters Euclid, Shaye, Monkey House, Tomi Swick, Royal Wood, EchoTest and many others.

WORKING PRO

Peter honed his bass chops playing several nights a week in event bands in the Toronto area, and currently entertains audiences with the Dave Murphy Band, which boasts a repertoire of over 1,200 songs. He was also the regular bassist for Jerome Godboo and Suzie McNeil, Naked Brunch (featuring Walter Zwol), The Nomads and The Anita Rossi Band. He's performed with Oakland Stroke (Tower of Power tribute) and was bassist and co-lead singer in Ten Feet Tall (XTC tribute).
